At SCOTUS Hearings, North Carolinians Heard A Lot About Tillis’ Rush to Gut Health Care
WATCH: NC voter: “It’s truly scary to think about losing my health care coverage” as a result of a SCOTUS decision
Raleigh, N.C. - Over four days of Supreme Court confirmation hearings, voters in North Carolina have heard a lot about Thom Tillis’ plan to rush a Supreme Court nominee who would gut health protections for millions. All across North Carolina, voters saw coverage of Tillis praising Amy Coney Barrett, despite her open hostility towards the Affordable Care Act and the fact that she would likely vote to strike down the law in a case presented before the Court on November 10th.

“Thom Tillis spent this week pandering to his party bosses and Washington special interests, instead of standing up for millions of North Carolinians whose health care the Supreme Court may wipe out this year,” said Piedmont Rising Executive Director Casey Wilkinson. “Tillis’ plan to rush through an anti-health Supreme Court nominee means 1.7 million North Carolinians with a pre-existing condition lose their protections, 600,000 lose their health care altogether, and premiums and prescription drug prices spike even higher. Tillis’s agenda may be good for his special interest friends, but it’s wrong for North Carolina families.”
