BREAKING: New FEC filings reveals that Tillis is among largest recipients of pharma money
Updated: Mar 2, 2020
While Senator Tillis attacks health care protections, new FEC filings reveal that he continues to put pharmaceutical industry profits ahead of North Carolinians’ well-being.
As of last year, Tillis is among the largest recipients of pharmaceutical industry money.
Raleigh, N.C. – New FEC filings reveal that Senator Thom Tillis is one of the top recipients of contributions from the pharmaceutical industry, including trade group, Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America (PhRMA), who invested millions lobbying against proposed legislation that would lower drug costs. As premiums skyrocket and the cost of drugs continue to increase, North Carolina families are being forced to choose between paying for their prescriptions or paying their rent.
Casey Wilkinson, Executive Director of Piedmont Rising, issued the following statement in response:
“Time and time again, we’ve heard Senator Tillis promise to tackle sky-rocketing drug prices but empty promises have only moved us in the opposite direction. After taking thousands from the pharmaceutical industry, Senator Tillis’ inaction on lowering drug costs is a betrayal to hardworking North Carolinians. Our lives are at stake. It’s time for Senator Tillis to put his constituents first, not corporate special interests.”
