NC Advocates Host Press Call Highlighting Impact of Drug Prices

Updated: Mar 2, 2020

Piedmont Rising Joins Protect Our Care NC to Share Health Stories, Discuss Call to Combat Rising Drug Costs

Raleigh, N.C. - In response to skyrocketing drug costs, advocates in North Carolina are demanding that Senator Thom Tillis vow to lower drug costs and defend access to affordable health care. Tomorrow, February 20 at 11:00AM ET, grassroots leaders, advocates, and elected officials will hold a press call highlighting those soaring drug costs, underscoring how too many American families are staying up at night worrying about choosing between getting their medication and paying their rent.

The U.S. House recently passed the Lower Drug Costs Now Act (H.R. 3) that would give Medicare the power to negotiate lower drug prices. Americans, even those on private insurance, would benefit from lowered drug costs.

Yet Senator Thom Tillis still has not supported the measure. It’s time for Senator Thom Tillis to step up to protect North Carolinians' care.

WHAT: Piedmont Rising will join Protect Our Care for a Press Conference Call on the Lower Drug Costs Now Act (H.R. 3), legislation to lower the cost of prescription drugs.

● Protect Our Care Executive Director Brad Woodhouse
