Majority Think Burr Should Resign; Tillis Unpopular Too
Raleigh, N.C. — This morning, Piedmont Rising and Progress NC Action released a pollwith Public Policy Polling assessing North Carolinians’ views on health care, the economy, and state leadership.
In response, Piedmont Rising Executive Director Casey Wilkinson and Digital Director of Progress NC Action Eleanore Wood released the following statements:
“Piedmont Rising supports extended paid sick leave and increased unemployment payments for workers that are impacted by this crisis,” said Casey Wilkinson, Piedmont Rising Executive Director. “We also call on Senator Tillis to disclose his recent financial transactions. We deserve to know if Senator Tillis also sold stocks that could have been impacted by the global pandemic using insider information.”
“Our leaders have a responsibility to put the interests of the American people ahead of their own financial interests every day, but especially during a global crisis,” said Eleanore Wood, Digital Director of Progress NC Action. “Senator Richard Burr violated this sacred trust and it is clear North Carolinians are paying attention - he should resign.”
