NEW TV AD: Thom Tillis Must Not Rush to Confirm Justice Who Would Strike Down Health Care Law
Piedmont Rising Launches Nearly $2M Ad Campaign, Including Seven Figures for TV
Raleigh, N.C. - Today, Piedmont Rising launched a nearly $2 million ad campaign targeting Thom Tillis over the Supreme Court vacancy, including a $1.6 million initial TV buy for a new ad, “Gone.” The ad calls out Thom Tillis for rushing to confirm a Supreme Court nominee who would take away North Carolinians’ health care, end protections for pre-existing conditions, and increase the cost of prescription drugs -- all in the middle of the pandemic.
Shortly after Justice Ginsburg’s passing, Tillis said he would rubber stamp any Trump nominee, a reversal of his 2016 position when he insisted that the Senate not confirm a Supreme Court nominee during a presidential election year. The ad demands that Tillis let North Carolinians have a voice in the process before making a lifetime appointment to the Supreme Court.
The TV ad will run in the Greensboro and Greenville/New Bern markets for several weeks.
“Tillis’s pledge to rubber stamp any Trump nominee is a commitment to strip away health care from 600,000 North Carolinians and wipe out pre-existing conditions protections for 1.7 million,” said Piedmont Rising Executive Director Casey Wilkinson. “This November, the Supreme Court will again hear arguments in a case to repeal the ACA entirely, and North Carolinians deserve a say in whether this lifetime appointment goes to a justice who will make health care less affordable and less accessible to millions of people. Tillis must stop rushing to approve an anti-health care nominee.”
