No Excuse for Tillis, Burr to Oppose Efforts to Lower Cost of Care

No Excuse for Tillis, Burr to Oppose Efforts to Lower Cost of Care

House Bill Passed Today Contains Cost Relief Measures, Protections for Pre-Existing Conditions

RALEIGH, N.C. - Today, the U.S. House of Representatives passed the Patient Protection and Affordable Health Care Enhancement Act, a bill that would strengthen the Affordable Care Act’s (ACA) protections and lower the cost of health care for working families. Piedmont Rising released the following statement calling on Senator Thom Tillis and Senator Richard Burr to support efforts to lower premiums and prescription drug costs, expand Medicaid, and protect pre-existing condition provisions of the ACA.

“There is no excuse for Senator Tillis and Senator Burr to oppose efforts to lower premiums and prescription drug costs, expand Medicaid coverage, and protect North Carolinians with pre-existing conditions,” said Piedmont Rising Executive Director Casey Wilkinson. “Hundreds of thousands of North Carolinians are out of work and many more struggling with health care costs - all during the middle of a global pandemic. Now is the time for Tillis and Burr to demonstrate leadership by working to pass these provisions through the Senate.”
