Reps. David Price, Butterfield Mark 10-Year Anniversary of the ACA with NC Advocates

Reps. David Price and Butterfield to Mark 10-Year Anniversary of the Affordable Care Act Amid Coronavirus Crisis with North Carolina Health Care Advocates

March 23rd Marks the 10th Anniversary of the Passage of the Affordable Care Act

Raleigh, NC – On Monday, March 23rd at 7:00pm, Rep. David Price will join Piedmont Rising, Protect Our Care, Action NC, Mom’s Rising, and Little Lobbyists for a call to mark the ten-year anniversary of the passage of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) at a time when the threat of the coronavirus reminds us all of the importance of access to quality and affordable health coverage.

In the ten years since the passage of the ACA, more than 20 million people have gained health coverage, bringing the number of uninsured people to historically low levels. Despite the health care law’s proven gains, the Trump Administration and lawmakers like Sen. Thom Tillis have repeatedly tried to eliminate the ACA. The most recent attempt comes in the form of a lawsuit to overturn the law brought by several Republican state officials. The Supreme Court is expected to issue a ruling in the case later this year.

Piedmont Rising joins multiple health care advocacy organizations to highlight the stories of North Carolinians who have benefitted from the ACA and to call for an end to the lawsuit—particularly in light of the coronavirus pandemic because no one should ever wonder whether or not they have access to care, especially during a crisis like this.
