Tillis Votes for Trump Lawsuit to Strike Down ACA
Tillis Opposes Bipartisan Effort To Halt Legal Challenge That Would Wipe Out Health Care
Raleigh, N.C. - Today, Thom Tillis voted to let the Trump administration continue its latest legal challenge to wipe out the entirety of the Affordable Care Act, bucking a bipartisan effort that saw five Republicans cross party lines to try to stop the administration from taking further legal action to undermine the ACA.
On November 10th, the Supreme Court will hear the latest legal challenge to the ACA, and the Trump administration has asked the court to strike the law down, including protections for pre-existing conditions.
“Every time you think Thom Tillis can’t do more to jeopardize North Carolinians’ health care, he proves you wrong. Tillis is so radical in his commitment to wiping out health care for millions of North Carolinians that he couldn’t even bring himself to join a bipartisan effort to stop Trump’s reckless legal challenge to the ACA,” said Piedmont Rising Executive Director Casey Wilkinson. “If Trump is successful, 600,000 North Carolinians will lose their care, coverage for 1.7 million with pre-existing conditions could disappear, and the cost of premiums and prescription drugs will skyrocket. Tillis is only interested in serving his party bosses and Washington special interests, and he will be defeated this November.”
