TONIGHT: Rep. Butler Shares Why Medicaid Expansion in NC is Needed Now More Than Ever

TONIGHT AT 6PM: Virtual Town Hall with Rep. Deb Butler on the Critical Importance of Medicaid Expansion During the COVID-19 Crisis

Piedmont Rising and guests will discuss why Medicaid expansion is needed now more than ever as North Carolinians grapple with the coronavirus crisis

**Media may RSVP here or by emailing jessica@piedmontrising.org**

Raleigh, N.C. – On Thursday, May 14 at 6:00 p.m., Rep. Deb Butler (HD-18) will join Piedmont Rising for a virtual health care town hall to discuss where North Carolina stands on Medicaid expansion and how the state’s refusal to expand Medicaid under the Affordable Care Act is undermining the response to COVID-19.

More than 500,000 North Carolinians could have gained health coverage if the state had expanded Medicaid under the ACA.

Town hall panelists will discuss how we can lessen the negative repercussions of this pandemic across North Carolina’s most vulnerable communities, what leaders can do to increase access to care and help struggling hospitals, and how residents can urge lawmakers in North Carolina to protect health care and move to expand Medicaid in response to the public health emergency.

WHAT: Virtual Town Hall: Medicaid Expansion

WHEN: Thursday, May 14th, 6:00PM

WHO:

  • Representative Deb Butler (HD-18)

  • Casey Wilkinson, Piedmont Rising Executive Director
